Hotels-Where We Stayed

Here is the beginning of a growing list of hotels.  I will keep updating it as I go along and as more trips come to pass!  Remember, these are places where I've stayed and enjoyed.  I will add them in by hotel chain when possible, and if an independent hotel, then by country.  The link to the hotel is posted for each and you can read more about the city/town/village by doing a search on the blog! WESTIN HOTELS:
Venice:  Europa & Regina is a collection of palaces on the Grand Canal.  It is a world class luxury hotel with impeccable service and an envious location. http://www.westineuropareginavenice.com/
HILTON HOTELS:
Prague Old Town, Czech Republic:  Excellent location just steps into the Old Town.  Service and staff were superb!  www.hiltonpragueoldtown.com

Dusseldorf, Germany:  Minutes from the airport, with an easy walk (2 blocks) to the tram for trips to the City Center.  Walk one extra block and you are on the Rhine - walk along the river park and find yourself relaxing as you come upon the lively city scene. http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/north-rhine-westphalia/hilton-dusseldorf-DUSHITW/index.html

Cologne, Germany:  Steps from the central train station (which conveniently has quick service to the cologne Airport) the hotel has a great location.  Aside from the train station, a few steps (literally) is the grand cathedral!  The hotel's rooms were a bit smaller than usual, but the high standard of comfort was spot on.  Excellent location from which to tour the city on foot.  http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/north-rhine-westphalia/hilton-cologne-CGNHIHI/index.html

Frankfurt, Germany:  Fabulous hotel living up to the Hilton name and reputation.  Great location for walking about town, conducting business, e-z access to transportation around the city including the airport! Fabulous views. http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/hesse/hilton-frankfurt-FRAHITW/index.html

New York City, NY:  Incredible location and the views (especially at night) are spectacular of the new Freedom Tower!  Great service and comfortable bedding - just what you need after a day of sightseeing or shopping (world famous Century 21 is right next store!).  NYC subway and PATH trains are just outside the hotel door.  http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/millenium-hilton-NYCMLHH/index.html

HOTELS DU VIN
Glasgow:  One Devonshire Gardens is a collection of townhouses turned into a luxury boutique hotel.  Superb service, lovely rooms and so many public spaces (living rooms/lounges)! Absolutely elegant and serves up a great breakfast! https://www.hotelduvin.com/locations/glasgow/

SOFITEL HOTELS:
Munich, Germany:  Luxury and location at its best!  Located just steps from the main train station in Munich, this hotel has been our pick twice for our visits to Munich.  We enjoy our coffee each morning thanks to having a Nespresso coffee machine in the room!  Mass transit located in or outside of the main rail station and walk into (or from) the Old Town; a good stretch of the legs after a hearty meal in town. http://www.sofitel.com/gb/hotel-5413-sofitel-munich-bayerpost/index.shtml?utm_source=contemporan

EUROSTAR HOTELS
Barcelona, Spain  What a great location!  Situated at the north end of La Rambla it is close enough to the action without being in the midst.  Modern style, quiet location, comfy bed and convenient to it all.
Walk outside the door to the right and there is promenade of eateries and shops; to the left is the hop-on-hop-off bus stop.  Convenient to high end fashion houses, cultural center and public transportation. http://www.eurostarscristalpalace.com/EN/hotel.html

INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS:
Murcia (La Torre), Spain  Another luxury stay in a golf/spa resort in south eastern Spain.  The room was spacious, luxurious, well appointed and well cared for - as were all the public spaces at the hotel. Perfect for honeymoons, R & R getaways, golf outings (you can play 6 courses!) or a spa escape.  We plan to return and visit the "sister" Intercontinental Hotel in Murcia (Mar Menor).  http://www.intercontinental.com/latorre

BEST WESTERN:
So far in Europe, I've discovered that Best Western Hotels are charming boutique hotels that are family run

Ducey, France:  The owner/hosts of this hotel were the kindest and most helpful!  The rooms were large, spotlessly clean and offered the most beautiful, peaceful views!  http://www.bestwestern.fr/en/hotel-Ducey,Best-Western-Le-Moulin-De-Ducey,93255

Honfleur, France: The historic seafront hotel is located on the fishing port!  Spectacular views, lovely rooms and all the charm of a historic building. http://www.hotel-honfleur.com/

Florence, Italy:  Several years back we stayed at the Rivoli Hotel; it was a magnificent stay (a old monastery), located a short walk to the main rail station and to the old historic section of Florence. Fabulous is all I can say.  On a recent trip we walked into the lobby and it was still as impeccable as I remembered.    www.hotelrivoli.it/en

Florence, Italy:  A recent trip brought us again to another BW hotel, the Gabriele d'Annunzio.  Located just on the fringe of the city, there is a bus stop close by that goes into the city center.  It offers guest parking and great if making this a one-night stop while touring through Tuscany.  The staff was kind, helpful and made for a wonderful stay. 19th century convent turned hotel with beautiful grounds.www.dannunziohotel.it

Moffat, Scotland:  Moffat House Hotel  Charming and picturesque as can be! Cozy rooms, great service and lovely village! Loved it!  www.moffathouse.co.uk

ZENIT HOTELS:
Valencia, Spain:  A few nights in Valencia were spent at this new modern hotel located near the main rail station, metro/subway and walking distance to the heart of Valencia.  Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and vowed that this would be "our" hotel on our next visit to Valencia.
Great location and great value for money! valencia.zenithoteles.com/en

ITALY:
Rome:  Hotel Forty-Seven  The hotel has 47 rooms, hence the name.  We were fortunate enough to reserve one of the suites with a corner balcony and it was magnificent!  Great location near the forum. www.fortysevenhotel.com

Venice:  The Londra Palace on the canal just steps to the Bridge of Sighs and St. Marks Square.  Fabulous location, tastefully decorated rooms overlook the lagoon or city.  www.londrapalace.com

San Gimignano:  Relais Santa Chiara  Charming hotel overlooking the Tuscan vineyards and rolling hills.  Short walk to the famous village of San Gimignano and a great base from which to explore Tuscany.

FRANCE:
Arles  Hotel Jules Cesar was a find!  Located steps to the old town, next to the tourist office and housed in a former convent this hotel was full of charm.  On the Saturday that we were there, the main avenue in front of the hotel turned into a farmer's market and there was so much to sample, buy and try! Location and rate = exceptional value! http://www.hotel-julescesar.fr/uk/index.php

Narbonne: Hotel La Residence was one of the few hotels in Narbonne, near the old historic center to have parking.  It was a charming hotel, but not every floor had exact access to the elevator (half stairwells).  Clean, comfortable and convenient.  Go out for breakfast.  Narbonne was a fabulous town to visit and the hotel was in a great location and good value. http://la-residence-narbonne.getmyhotel.com/index_en.html

ENGLAND
Cotswolds (Stow-on-the-Wold): Wyck Hill Hotel and Spa  Excellent location, wonderful service, great (king bed) room in the Orangery!  Perfect base for exploring the beautiful Cotswolds!   www.wyckhillhousehotel.co.uk

Bath: The Ayrlington Hotel   A collection of townhouses transformed into a luxury B&B.  Lovely rooms, short walk into Bath city center.  Parking. www.ayrlington.com

SCOTLAND:

Invergarry: Invergarry Hotel  Superb find!  Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - and the pub was great! www.invergarryhotel.co.uk/

GERMANY:
Oberwesel:  Castle Hotel Auf Schonburg  Incredible!  Fantastic rooms overlook Rhine River, delicious breakfast and gourmet dinners included, impeccable service.  Fairy tale! www.hotel-schoenburg.com

Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber:  Klosterstueble Hotel  (built about 1534!) is right in the heart of fairytale Rothenburg!  Great value, delightful restaurant, charming hosts!   www.klosterstueble.de/en

Hamburg:   This grand dame of a hotel was "the" hotel in the days of transatlantic travel.  To this day, she is a very grand, very elegant hotel with fine finishes and great attention to detail.  Rooms are modern yet the lobby retains an aura of yesteryear with leather club chairs, high ceilings and impeccable bar service!

SPAIN:
Atamaria (La Manga Club) Hotel Principe Felipe (formerly a Hyatt Hotel) overlooks views of the golfcourse (one of three!), pool and the Mar Menor in the distance.  The rooms are very spacious, with very comfortable beds, buffet breakfast on site that offers more choices making it difficult to decide how to start one's day!  Dine in or dine on the terrace - the food is as much a star here as are the friendly professional staff. http://lamangaclub.com/accommodation/hotel-principe-felipe-5
