Travel: Day Trip to Antibes, France

One of the nicest towns to visit for the day is Antibes - especially if you make it while the Marche Provencal is bustling with activity in the morning. What is so wonderful about Antibes is the fact that is situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Wander through the many streets and squares of the old town, peer into shop windows, browse through storefront racks and bins, have a glass of wine or beer before or after lunch and then head for a walk along the town's ramparts. Let the sea breeze blow through your hair as you gaze upon the sea, overlook the marina and smile as you watch children play in the sand or splash about as they scream with delight. Further along the ramparts you'll come to the new part of town - the focal point is the water feature at the seafront and at the opposite end of the main boulevard (Prince Albert 1er) are the fountains in the main town square. This part of Antibes is also dotted with interesting boutiques, restaurants and bistros, chocolate shops, bakeries and all good things French! We often stroll all about the town and then settle in for a fantastic lunch at Le Vauban in old Antibes...reservations are highly recommended. The chef is very very talented. www.levauban.fr Another favorite in old Antibes is La Creperie du Port - and reservations are also suggested since it is one of the most popular eateries in town! They haven't a website, but here is their number: 04 93 34 56 12.
