Travel: Day Trip to Eze, France

One of my favorite day trips, and it seems to be that of any of our guests, is a trip to Eze Village. Eze is described as perched, fortified medieval village overlooking the sea. For me, the best description is: magical! Village homes are built of stone, shops and restuarants are nestled into the stone carved out with rough walls and floors. There is a romantic notion of medieval days...but it is quite a walk up! As the description is correct - it is a perched village - on top of mountain! The views along the climb take your breath away (in more ways than one), but how spectacular! We've been coming to Eze Village since the late 1990's and it never fails to deliver "oohs and ahhs". The shops are unique, some are almost cave-like filled with a charm all their own. There are two luxury hotels in the village each with excellent restaurants and reservations are highly recommended. There is an "Jadin Exotique" (Exotic Garden) at the summit of the village the variety of succulents (cactus, agaves, aloès...) are everywhere - the views are panoramic!
