Recipe: Hummus

RECIPE – HUMMUS
15oz can Garbanzo Beans - drained and well rinsed – Optional: remove “skin/husk”
1 onion, quarterd and sautéed until tender, let cool down
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (lime would do) -optional
1-2 garlic cloves – chopped or minced
5 Tablespoons Tahini
1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
1 Tablespoon Hot Tabasco Sauce or ¼ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
8oz Roasted Red Peppers (I also use some of the liquid from the jar about 1/4 cup)
If I don’t use the lemon or lime juice, I use all the roasted red pepper liquid

Place all the ingredients into a food processor and puree to the consistency you want. If the puree is too thick, add a little more liquid (red pepper liquid, lemon or lime juice)
